I lived in Everett, Washington and was able to grow fairly large avocado plants in an Eastern exposure and then outside in the summer months . Will not bear fruit in that area however.
I live in South Tacoma and I've not seen any outside. Just so happens that I'm in the process of trying to sprout one in my window sill. Will see how that goes I guess. I did find a link for places that sell them in Tacoma.

I live in CT and have avocado trees I have grown from pits. I keep them small so they can come inside in the winter. I think they are very pretty.
