Amazon has some nice designs-https://www.amazon.com/Bloss-Decoractive-Stained-Window-Stickers/dp/B015L1CDA2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1516527325&sr=8-4&keywords=etch+window+glass+pattern
I did the glass doors of a cabinet of mine by using some stained glass window covering and cutting it to fit. It was easy, cheap and looks gorgeous! Nobody yet has been able to tell it's not the real deal. There are hundreds of patterns available to pick from. I used one similar to this: https://www.amazon.com/Artscape-Magnolia-Window-Film-24/dp/B000Q3QWRG/ref=pd_sim_201_10?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000Q3QWRG&pd_rd_r=0KJE149TXJ80DYCN1X3H&pd_rd_w=zeTUx&pd_rd_wg=h0P7C&psc=1&refRID=0KJE149TXJ80DYCN1X3H
You can check out Glass Patterns on the internet. Delphi Glass.com has some free tutorials. Stained Glass News has ideas and there are lots of books. Anything in Stained glass is one of my favorite websites. Good luck.
Thanks. This is beautiful and I know just where to use it!
Anything that strikes your fancy can be made into a pattern. Photo, poster, magazine pics, all the adult coloring books. Any of them would give you hundreds of options. Put them on a light box or taped to a window and trace your design onto tracing paper, butcher paper or parchment paper. Tape it to the back of the glass. Hobby Lobby used to carry a product that had a liquid lead for lining and transparent “paint” for filling in the areas. Just follow your drawing and fill it in with the colors of your choice.
You're so welcome Brad. I'd love to see a picture when you've finished !
Are you looking to do real stained glass or a faux look? You can get some stained glass pattern books at the library for inspiration. You can also scan some for ideas to develop your patterns.
Hi, I do stained glass and I usually make my patterns to fit the area. I get inspiration from stained glass books or the internet. recently I took a stained glass image from a glass door from pinterest ....printed it out and used a projector to project onto paper taped to the wall to fit my area. I traced exactly the part of the image into the framed out area on my paper. I didn't copy the entire image, just the part or medallion that I wanted. I also used a ruler to be very precise and added to the image that I felt comfortable cutting the pieces of glass. If you are just using this as a pattern then you won't have to worry about what cuts are doable but this is a great way to transfer any design or image that gives you inspiration!
