Any idea to make this look better?

How about paint the top half white or the same blue as the wall and install tongue n groove topped off with a band of trim around it in white as well? Then you could install little shelves above to put plants and perfumes etc on them?

First, I would paint it or whitewash it to blend into the wall a little better - there is too much contrast right now. Then I would surround it with items that help blend it into the wall, not just mount items on top of it, which just calls attention to it. The decor of the rest of the room will really dictate how you proceed --- if the room is rustic, it will work the way it is. If it isn't, you need to camoflage it a bit to blend in.

If you simply wish to make it less obvious in the space, you can paint the brick to match the wall. You can make the bricks "go away" by drywalling around it and paint to match the wall. You can also mud it all. If you want to make it functional in some way, you can run shelves up against it on one or both sides. Shelving can be added to my other suggestions also. Another idea is a curtain or other decorative wall feature to hide it. We have a chimney running through my daughter's bedroom and it is barely noticeable since it had been mudded over to match the wall. Had a lot of imperfections to go along with the uneven log walls which have the same treatment.

I think I would just white wash it. If you start drilling (or gluing) beadboard, drywall, wallpaper, etc to it, you might regret it later should you want to change the look of your room. And I wouldn’t hang anything on it.
