Try double-faced carpet tape in vertical strips evenly spaced on the wall. They also make a sticky-back wood flooring plank that would work well.
Hi Cathy. You could put the planks on bigger sheets of wood to make big panels. Then screw some hooks into the wall, and eyes for the hooks onto the panels and hang them. It wouldn't cover the whole wall but still give it the same look.
You could try those would look floor coverings that lock in grooves together. You would probably need to nail them somewhere on a vertical install. However they float on a horizontal surface, like the floor- no gluing or nails.

You can also put up peel and stick wallpaper it’s super easy and looks Great.! I thought my daughter n law put up real wood but it was wall paper . Check it out. Good Luck.!
