What is the easiest way to clean out my house gutters?

I'm on Social Security and can't afford those gutter covers. It's hard for me to reach the gutter on my ladder. After the gutters are cleaned out, is there any cheap way to cover the gutters to prevent them from clogging up again? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

you can get screens to go over the gutters. I have a an attatchment for my hose...it’s 4 ft long watering wand that I can stand on a sturdy milk crate and flush the gutters.

We got some plastic wire mesh from a big box store. It was in a roll and just slipped right over the gutters. Keeps leaves and big stuff out up allows water to pass thru.

  I haven't seen plastic wire mesh before. You said it slips over the gutter. Do you use something to hold it in place? Did you just lay it on top of the gutter? How long is the roll of mesh? Do you have to cut and piece it? Please reply. Thanks for helping me.
