'Not sure what your concept of 'royal' is, but painting a white tub black is inviting a great deal of constant maintenance in touching up chips and scratches. If the results do not meet with your expectations or or unattractive, you will be stuck with an ugly black wrecked tub.
While it is 'possible' to do this yourself, it is not recommended, as the results will never adhere as permanently and with the durability that a professional tub refinisher and reglazer will be able to achieve with professional tools.
If you do not have any previous experience with painting claw foot tubs, my advice is to not attempt it. Leave it white, and put your efforts into decorating other parts of the bathroom instead.
I assume you mean outside of tub Black with silver feet? Yes that's ok, but so would Deep Blue, Burgandy or in fact any dark colour. I assume you intend to change the Shower curtain and Towels etc. to follow the theme?
For royal I would go with the " jewel tones " changing the paint color on the walls and a new shower curtain, hanging prints with " royal colored" frames. The white tub matches your sink, it looks uniform I would not paint the bathtub, instead, if the white tub really bugs you, try contact paper for a quick upgrade. I had a professional company change by bathroom vanity tiles with a glaze or coating, didn't last , I have to replace.
Good luck with your upgrades, please post when finish would love to see it.
That would look amazing! You can carry the silver to a nice complimentary wall color if you wanted to as well. If you want that luxurious feel, try a heavy fabric shower curtain (you line it with a plastic one on the inside), and fancy hardware to hold towels. Good luck!
Before painting the tub paint the walls, get a new throw rug and shower curtain. Maybe something with a nice royal blue in it. Frame your mirror and paint the frame. New lighting would help also.
What about white tub with black feet or silver. Rest of the room in blk and white or even grays. Cool curtain with a hint of green?
Well purple is the color for royalty so you could paint the walls purple. Not too sure any bathroom in a regular house would look truly royal as I imagine lots of space and marble and gold fittings etc in such a setting! You could hang a long mirror and paint the frame gold or silver, use silver accessories (hand mirrors, tops to jars etc) Lush thick towels, An elegant shower curtain maybe with a large fancy monogram in the middle of it. I agree with not painting the outside of the tub.
Years ago when I had a tub like that I painted it navy blue on the outside with silver feet. It was great and had no problems with it.
Black shows EVERYTHING! Especially water spots. I'm assuming/hoping you won't paint the inside. I bought a new black farmhouse sink for new house and fought with it constantly every though I loved it originally with the black maybe counter tops
