Have gone to flooring store and brought a sampling sheet home? This is a sheet that has a square of about 12 different colors of wood on it so you can choose which one you want . Sometimes they let you take it. Sometimes they want to send a salesman out with several of them .
Just makin' a suggestion.....the wide gray planks might look nice? The lady above has a good idea. C.D. Scallan.
Try a handscraped hickory. It has a lot of color variation and should have a few planks that would blend with your Gunstock.
We have been working with an installer who has brought some samples. Thanks for the feedback. We will look at a hickory. We have thought either go with the same color, gunstock or something totally different so they don't clash. The problem is the dark cherry furniture.
I inadvertently make this thread/question as resolved. It's not. Keep the suggestions coming, please!
Hickory is a type of wood and is usually stained in dark colors. The actual raw wood has varied colors, veining, mineral streaks, so when stained the planks would be varied. Go to any store that sells hardwood and ask to see the different colors of hickory flooring. My two favorites are by Palmetta Road and LM Flooring (Seneca Creek). I have a flooring store and these are big sellers. Mohawk, Shaw and Armstrong also have handscraped wood. Good luck!
