After my mother I. Law dies, we had the task of cleaning out her house. Yikes! I gave her clothes to a Christian organization, pics and momentous to family, furniture to anyone who needed it and still had stuff. She belonged to s a senior group...so I offered theM things too. Finally, we had an open house and displayed everything we still needed to find homes for. We felt like we honored her life by giving her life’s possessions new beginnings! Hope this helped. Also, the veterans have trucks to pick up things that are useful!
Have a garage sale and make some money. We had an estate sale when my mother passed.
If your items are old and in great condition, call independent second hand stores or thrift stores. Tell them what you have and some of them will buy them from you. They can come to you, but let them make the offer on the $ amount. This way you make some money and they haul it away. Some of these places have other consigners and they can alert them of the goods and they might buy also. Just don't look for a high price though, they need to resell them.
Local Ladies/Men's Groups. Church - Boot Sale - Yard Sale - Come and Buy - Advertise out front.....Buy something get something else free..............etc..
As for the rest -- decide if it is really trash or if it still has life in it. Many things are dated and no one wants them. If that is so, I would ask a local theatre group, school or whatever if they would like to add them to their property/costume departments. I bet they would! And they'll probably send someone out to collect it!
Congrats and way to go! I know how this can be a huge task. So ironically my neighbor is doing the same thing as you. He is having an "Estate" sale this weekend. He is letting people in for 2 days and stuff is flying out of his home. Some people do the first day full price and the second day 1/2 price just to get rid of stuff. You can have free stuff as well for things you just want to get rid of.
