Waterproof caulk.
This sounds like a job for epoxy. You must first determine what kind of plastic to make sure that your epoxy will stick to the plastic. Use a Dremel tool with a burr to remove plastic around the crack (not sure if that is what you are describing or if plastic has actually broken off). Clean off/out any soap residue then final clean with acetone before applying the epoxy. If water has gotten into the wood you'll have to make sure it is completely dry before making any repair.
filler first then paint it...........Or you could use toothpaste (white) and leave it till it gets hard before using.......
