Before putting in the effort and money, note that vertical blinds are passe' (old).
If you fid a way to do it, please let us know. Include the brand of your blind because I am sure it will not apply to all.

If the windows don't face a public area, I like the idea of solar shades.
Take it to a blind making shop and they can convert it.
They can use the same vertical strips.
Warning if the blinds are old then the plastic runners could be brittle and then will need replacing. If the blinds are not compatible with the blind shop you take them to then it will mean a new blind. I would not attempt to do this. I have worked in a blind shop and made blinds myself, you need c clips and spacers, so couldn't do this as need compatible components.
Look on line for blinds as this is cheaper.
