Your gutters might be fine just installed improperly. Most I’ve ever seen are metal but maybe plastic works just as fine?

Whatever kind you now have can most likely be sealed to stop leaks.
But if you are going to change them I'd go with aluminum gutters because they are made to length which keeps leaks to a minimum.
