go to your local ferret shelter, tell them you need ferret poop, they will probably give it to you (but a donation would be nice). Drop ferret poop into tunnel openings. Ground hogs are ferret food so the scent from the poop will scare the bjesus out of the ground hogs and they will go somewhere else to live. It works, we had a ground hog at my apartment complex, I put poop down the hole and that sucker was gone before you knew it. The manager was ecstatic. It is nontoxic and nonpoisonous so nothing bad leaches into the soil if you have kids or furry friends.

A good scoped rifle in .22 WMR, .222 or .223 some practice time at the range and when you can put three rounds in a 3" circle regularly then go home and dispatch the ground hog, you can fill in the hole with the animal and dirt and they won't come back, plus you may have developed a new outdoor activity, target shooting! If you are in an area where you can't shoot then just pour borax down the hole and they will leave.

Sounds gross but my ex boyfriend would go outside and pee on the areas where they dug holes, not all the tunneling and it seemed to work well! (Fenced yard) no chemicals and free!
