They need good light & if you’re in a more tropical place, put out during the summer. No direct sun. Trim plant back to the nodes where new growth is coming out. Keep soil damp, but not soaking wet. And in March start feeding with a good indoor plant fertilize. Good luck.
Just keep doing what you're doing. It will get new leaves. Put it outside in a shaded location for the summer. I leave it in its pot and bury the pot up to its rim.
Whenever anything gets spindly I trim the top to encourage new leaves on the bottom. Have to do this to the basil all the time too.
