Yup got those...cold air returns to the furnace. Heat vents are near the ceiling. That’s according to the thinking of the 1950’s. You don’t want to cover them up. You can spray paint them. But according to the 2000’s heat vents are on the floor...you can pull them up and out to clean. You might have to take a screw out.
