The best location is the one that suits you and suits your kitchen. Our opinion does not matter here.
Anywhere near stove is Too much Heat... As far away as possible would be my suggestion
I would say that is completely up to you. You could do a little extra work and try both to see which you like the most. Once you do one you may decide that's the best place! Good luck to you!
As far as possible from any source of heat that will effect pantry items.
