Use a paintable silicone caulk.

There is a great product called Big Stretch. I used it to caulk my crown molding. Worked like a charm. http://www.sashco.com/products/big-stretch/
It might be the humidity level. Wait until it changes and see if the joints go back together. That's what happened to me. Winter heat shrinks the wood. Or use wood putty that does not dry rock hard and enables expansion.
