That is what I would do however there is a reason they put those metal corners on.
I would nail it back on then spackle and paint. The reason it's there is to make a nice sharp unformed edge. If you take it off, you're making a lot more work for yourself and you'll have to put another one back on anyway. I'm sure the sheetrock under it is not sharp to the corners. If you don't want to nail, spackle and paint, there are decorative corners that are ok for bathrooms.
The corner bead is there to protect the drywall corner from bumps, bruises, and dents. Nail the bumped part back in with 4 penny ring shank nails. Then spackle, prime, and touch up paint.

At the hardware store, they have decorative corner wood that you can stain and put right over that!!! I have it all over my house. Also, they have what is called quarter round wood. Nice!
