Drop any round hollow surface in paint, (empty cans of vegetables, juice cans, any thing round!) remove excess by stamping it on paper towel or paper plate and press against the wall. Perfect circles!

You can vary the sizes & colors, over-lapping some. You can get a slightly variegated look by filling a disposable tin pan with several paints. The trick will be to not overload the stamping surface so doesn't drip. Good luck!

Use the balls in the ball pit, paint if desired, stick onto wall using velcro, 3M temporary glue, (wish I knew what the glue was that comes on credit cards and advertisements) or something that you can remove later when they decide it is too young for them.

You could use some clear plastic balls like this: https://www.consumercrafts.com/store/details/catalog/seasonal-clear-glass-plastic-ornaments/1105-89 and paint some transparent iridescent paint on them.
