You can try a coat of clear sealer over the paint to give some protection.
You could put a piece of clear plexiglass over it to save the paint.
Center the stained glass above the distance the dogs can reach.
A piece of plexiglass up against the stain glass would protect and you can still enjoy the stained glass. Unfortunately both sealing and plexi may show ware eventually
