I use a 2-1/2" angled Purdy brush for all types of paint. It's my favorite go-to brush for just about anything that needs painting.
You can use any brush you want. Just follow the general rules for choosing a brush when painting. A better quality brush will not lose bristles while you are brushing and certain brushes are a better shape for different types of painting. Lots of folk use Sponge Craft Brush, but you can use a small roller too.
Chalk paint is extremely forgiving so what brush you are comfortable with.
Use your artist brushes and make sure you clean them well.
