Suggest you get in touch with a paint company and speak to Technical dept. Or just had another thought, have you tried Auto/Car Paint or having it re-sprayed like a car?
What kind of paint did you use?
Talk to someone in a paint store. If it is getting really hot maybe use paint intended for a wood stove?

Sorry, for some reason I was thinking of a metal kickplate, yea a raw metal front door would not be appealing!
