You could definitely just paint it with a faux brick look. I just did faux bricks using joint compound and painted them with acrylic paints (you would need outdoor paint obviously). Then you can tailor it to what you want them to look like, more gray or more red. I don't know what you are using to clean, but I included links on removing paint from bricks as well as my link of painting my faux bricks, plus others about painting them:

Usually what I've had done was sand-blasting.
Or you could modernize your exterior by covering the brick with synthetic stucco (apply by hand) for a smooth modern finish. Here is a video where they use real stucco to show how much more modern a house could look. If your just trying to remove old paint from brick or faux brick, try a pressure washer first. They do amazing work on a lot of surfaces. Start off with lower pressure till determining what works best ( especially if it’s faux brick).
