HI Mary. You might have caterpillars chewing on the leaves. I would checked under the plants leaves well. I have had the same problem with my tomato plants and found 5 huge tomato horn worms. They camouflaged, and hide well. Good Luck!
how big are the holes in the leaves and what do you have planted?It could be several issues.
Amanda, you should plant Marigolds at the base of each tomatoe plant. One for each plant will do it. The horn worms are the larvae of the Spanish moth. The moths hate Marigaolds and will stay away.
Could be pesky worms! I agree, they do not like marigolds. You can also spray your plants with a solution of dawn. Here's a good article:
