I wear heavy leather gloves and tip the cactus into my hand rather than pulling it out.

Sandy soil and lite cactus fertilizer may bring back to life. Wrap folded newspaper around to move, if small. If large small shovel, dig indentation and drop in. Moving is good time 2 separate if more then 1 piece.
Use heavy rubber gloves ,gently remove from the pot,re-pot in the next size container, use only cacti soil
fold aluminum foil into a strap of several layers; loop/wrap gently around the cactus and hold/pinch the ends of foil to lift and hold plant while you repot.
