put a bamboo fence in front of it
A quick and temporary fix is something like morning glories. They'll cover the fence in no time and look pretty while whatever you really want takes hold.
You can weave almost anything in and out of each hole diagonally. Something like a 2-inch strip of vinyl. I'm sure there are lots of durable materials to use. And you can alternate colors to create patterns.
they have slats you can weave into it.... and it also now comes in finished chain link like black and green that really blends in and visually disappears. I took those 4x8' white resin lattice panels and used large washers and those screws that have a sleeve to fasten it to my back fence.... https://www.google.com/search?q=covering+chain+link+fence&client=opera&hs=6Nc&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwizjtPzj9HZAhUN-GMKHbIJD3UQ7AkIkQI&biw=1326&bih=631

Plant a perennial vine!
I attached lattice panels to the chain link and it basically disappeared..then I planted assorted vines to different area.

Have you considered planting sunflowers? They can grow rapidly and get tall (maybe too tall.) Be a good neighbor and keep them controlled.
