Is microwave safe?

When we open the door a fan(?) goes on & the turntable turns. It stops when we close the door. Otherwise it works fine. A repairman told us that some microwaves are made this way. But it never did it before Thanks.

I don't think that repairman wants to work on your microwave!

No real idea but I don't think the repairman is right! Have you unplugged the microwave from the wall? Maybe that will reset it! Can't hurt! Good Luck!

I wouldn't trust what that "repairman" said. Ask yourself this, why would the turntable turn making it difficult for you to place something into the microwave without it spilling possibly, it doesn't make any sense at all. Why would a "fan" come on if you haven't turned on the microwave yet? It sounds like a dangerous hazard and you might want to consider purchasing a new microwave.

The first thing to do would be to unplug it, let everything drain out of the circuitry-at least 5 minutes. Plug it in again and see what happens. If you have the same list of symptoms after this reboot-you have options:

    1. If you still have the booklet that came with the appliance, go through it and there maybe some trouble shooting advice.

    2. Contact the manufacturer and they can talk you through trouble shooting.

    3. If none of the above work, get a new microwave, they are not that expensive anymore and are available from basic to advanced functions.
