Great resources Naomie, thanks. Yes, they can go in the recycling bin! (I wish they were able to re-use them at the pharmacy though - safety, shmafety, ha ha.) I have given one filled with quarters (for laundry) to a kid going off to college. I have one in my desk drawer at work with a few bandaids, a small tube of neosporin, and a pair of tweezers. I've mixed up salt-spice mixes in them - nice if you know your hands'll be yucky with meat juice and you won't want to handle your "real" spice containers. Also good for a little dip or peanut butter in a lunch box (some seal better than others, so careful with that one). I made daily pill containers for my husband when traveling.
If they seal tightly, you can use them to store spices if you get some of your spices in larger containers. If they don't leak, you can put liquids in them for your cleaning buckets so you don't have to carry around a big bottle. We get Ibuprofen in big bottles and I use one for storing some in the kitchen cabinet and my bedroom. Once you start seeing ideas, you may think of even more.
it’s true, many things your recycler will not accept even though your items may say their recyclable! Our recycler sees even one item they don’t accept and they leave all your recycling in the can sitting at the curb. They won’t touch it till you have the right recyclables they want! Personally, I think it’s B.S.! If it’s recyclable then they should take it all regardless! Instead of just this and that and the rest goes in the dump when it shouldn’t!
Take them to your local veterinarian. They'll use them to dispense animal meds.
we have to take all of our trash to our transfer station. So we have no problems like Gale mentions. I always dispose of mine. I would rather save glass and tin.
