Cori Warner on Apr 24, 2014You could make a frame of 1x4's around the mattress that goes on the floor, and put those poly sliders on it so it pulls out easily. Add a handle and it will look like some of the trundle "drawers" you buy. Or you could get bed lifts so a trundle would fit under it. Or you could just put a dust ruffle on the bed so the matress under it doesn't show.Helpful Reply

Pat on Apr 26, 2014Would your son like a dust ruffle? Mine wouldn't have when he was 15....but would hide the mattress of the trundle that is for sure. How about framing out the matress on the trundle and putting a drawer like board on front so his bed will look like a bed with a drawer under it. Of course rollers/sliders on the trundle matress frame.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Apr 26, 2014Put a support brace under a piece of plyboard, add casters and roll it out of wherever you want it in the room. If it is useful and boys like it, who cares?Helpful Reply

Polly Zieper on Apr 26, 2014Pat, I don't know if he'll go for it or not. There are dust ruffles that have boxy corners, which are a bit more masculine-looking, I'll look for one of those, but you can be sure I WON'T be telling him that its called a dust ruffle!:)Helpful Reply

Polly Zieper on Apr 26, 2014Pat, the drawer idea is great, in fact I think I've seen some trundles in stores where you can't tell if its a drawer or a bed.Helpful Reply

Jennifer G on Apr 29, 2014I've used those 'bed risers' sold at many stores (I got mine at BED, BATH & BEYOND). They look like mini traffic cones and are put under the legs of a bed to raise it up off the floor. I think they come in two heights 6" and 10 or 12". They should raise his bed high enough to accommodate a standard trundle bed to fit under it.Helpful Reply
