What about an over the door solution for either the inside or outside of a closet door?

Can you put a shelf on the wall so the dog can't reach them. Or store your shoes in a box or a bin.

There are a number of shoe storage solutions, but remember that what you really want is something UP and away from your dog. If you have wall space, that's probably your answer. An over-the-door shoe keeper is a good solution. I've also seen folks hang their shoes from Command hooks. Another answer is a CD tower. You can fix bungee cords or something to the open end to deter your pet but reach in to grab your shoes.

I, at one time, owned a lot of shoes. What I did was to layer a couple of shelves on the floor at the back of my closet on blocks. I was able to put shoes all underneath the first shelf (long 6" wide by length of closet) on the floor and also use the top of that shelf. It wasn't in the way and I could see all of my shoes which I could close a door on and only I had access (not Fido).

I always hung one of those over the door shoe racks in my bedroom that hold alot of shoes.... https://www.walmart.com/ip/Whitmor-36-Pair-Over-the-Door-Shoe-Rack-White/9730037 and give the dog a chew bone before you leave home to amuse him/her
