I use a product called Wenol. It is made in Germany. I ordered mine on Amazon. It’s an excellent product. It’s the only thing I use.
I sell a lot of jewelry on Ebay. Gold, silver. silverware, serving sets. Polishes like Wrights and dips like TarnX tend to remove some of the metal. I use white toothpaste (not gel) and a damp toothbrush. For large items I use a damp cloth. Also works on copper, brass, bronze, porcelain, ceramics, sneakers, plastics, etc. For my sales I needed one product for cleaning everything.
It depends on what type of jewelry & the stones if any. Most stores carry a jewelry cleaning solution & wipes that are safe for most jewelry!
If you have stones on your jewelry, a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water and rinse in warm water. For hard stones, like diamonds, not turquoise, opal and pearls and other soft stones, I dip the stones in alcohol to get the water off and dry to a water spot free shine. Buff all with a dry soft cloth. I have never had the alcohol cause a problem with gold or silver, but I don't soak them in it. The DIY cleaner with the foil, etc., also removes a little of the metal. I was told about this by a jeweler that I use for repairs and checking settings.
My wife actually just uses tooth paste on a old tooth brush and it works great!
i put winded in a bowl and microwave it until hot, but watch while you are heating it as it will bubble over! Take bowl out on put jewelry in bowl until winded cools, remove and brush with a soft toothbrush and wipe dry! They will sparkle
