Try wood stain - it colours concrete posts............
I painted mine with a grout color and then stenciled "bricks" over it. All with cement paint. Then, I sealed it with concrete sealing paint. Neighbors were impressed and copied this concept. You can buy the stencils or make your own pattern. They can be purchased online or at the paint store. Near the road, I painted in the house number. Police loved that. Helpful.
Liz, your brick and house number sounds so pretty! Carole, I agree with Liz. Use concrete/cement paint. It is formulated to penetrate into the concrete rather than just sitting on top of it. If you are not up to stenciling a pattern, I would suggest you get three cans of concrete paint and have them all tinted the colors on one paint strip color sample - one the lightest color on the strip, one the darkest, and the third the middle color. Get a large container of the darkest color and paint it over your entry as a base color. After it drys, randomly spounge on the middle color. Let that dry, then spounge/dab on the lightest to blend your colors together. I have found that a fat spounge that is sold to wipe down a tile install works the best. This method is fool proof for anyone artistically challenged.
