Best way to change dark kitchen cabinets to something brighter?
From dark stained solid wood to something brighter. Someone told me I would ruin the beauty of the wood. These are old old cabinets but were made very sturdy.

Some of us have an issue w painting real wood. U could sand them down a use a lighter stain which would retain the beauty of the wood. But its ur kitchen so if u want to paint them hot pink go for it!
You could strip them down to bare wood and re-stain using a lighter stain colour...you would end up doing a lot of sanding to accomplish this, but it is doable. Ultimately it is your house and your taste, if you would feel more comfortable painting the cupboards a brighter colour, go for it.
