My son's dog pulled out a length of yarn from our new Berber carpet.

You need to get a carpet guy to stretch it out for you and fasten back on the tack strips. You can usually hire some of those guys on the side cheap.
Agree whole heartedly. You need a pro.
its a major pain in the knee. that's what you apply force to the carpet stretcher with. it also needs to be stretched evenly--leave this one to the pro, get you space clear of furniture and let them do their thing.
that is a job for a professional carpet installer
Have the carpet restretched.
My husband always rents a knee kicker, they are called, to stretch the carpet out again to the wall. Start on one side of the room and work it to the opposite wall. Cut off the extra carpet and retack it to the tack board along the far wall. It can be done in part of a day especially if you can get down on the floor and work the knee kicker like it needs to be done to stretch the carpet again.
