large snap tight containers
I keep mine in a tin can that I got popcorn. I also found those cans empty at 99c stores
I keep bird seed and dog good surplus in metal trash cans with lids until needed. I found some here: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Behrens-6-Gal-Galvanized-Steel-Round-Trash-Can-with-Locking-Lid-00108/202264761
You can put the seed in a large pot or galvanized container then top with a glass round. Instant small decorative table.
If you can fit some kind of baffle over the top this will deter the rain and the squirrels. A metal dish wide enough to make a nice canopy.
