a 4x8 sheet of lattice can be nailed to a frame for a small fence section. Nailed to 4x4 s and put in the ground. Add a pretty vine if you like (clematis e.g.)

You can purchase trash cans which can be attached to the bottom of you sink cupboard and which you can slide out for use. The other one is the round one attached to the door frame inside and when you open the door the garbage can comes out and the lid opens. This way the garbage is always covered. The first one does not have a lid.
Just realized you were talking about the outside cans. Build a box with a slanted lid for easy access.
