I want to build a birdhouse - where to start?

I have a lot of birds in and around my condo. I would like to have one or two houses for them.

Wiki how or instructables web site have really good instructions for small projects. I have heard that the size of the opening into the bird house determines which birds nest there.

You can buy bird house kits at Michaels or Hobby Lobby or any craft store. They even have them at Home Depot and can be purchased in-store or online, as well as Amazon. You can pick up paints and brushes there too and decorate them to your liking. They are very reasonably priced depending on size and how ornate they are ($1.00 and up).
