How do I get the cedar smell out of blankets that I kept in my cedar chest? Are there any hacks or laundry detergents for odors that might help?
I would get it dry cleaned first, and if there is any odor afterwards, I would spray it with Frebreeze.
Activated charcoal tablets can be used to remove the scent, if clothing can be washed, wash it in vinegar to remove the smell of moth balls or or if clothing cannot be washed, place a bowl of vinegar in the room.

Turn it inside out, hang it outside for a few hours. and place some dryer sheets in the sleeves and pockets until the smell goes away.
Spray with Febreeze for fabric...........
...and never use them again... pure poison. There r much nicer anti moth products available, including as spray.
put the clothes outside in the sunshine. Don’t wash them or you’ll never get the smell out.

If you can, wash the coat yourself, mix some baking soda in the washer, then use Febreeze when damp & hang to dry. If you use dry leaners, alert them to your problem 1st. I‘ve used a dog-urine spray on winter boots & that worked for me. Also, anything alcohol-based will make the smell worse. Mothball odour is very difficult to get rid of - you may need to use any method more than once. Good Luck!!
