Hi Marlis. It could be that they are getting damp. Try washing them with vinegar.
not totally dry when folded, if stored in a closet in the bath the humid air can make them musty smelling.
Make sure they are thoroughly dry when folding. Ironing sheets and tablecloths etc. will ensure their dryness.
After washing, let them sit a day or so before putting them away. Store with a drier sheet between them. Put an open box of baking soda in the closet.
wash them again in white vinegar
Closets have no air flow and things can get that closet smell. Put a few cedar blocks among your linens. Will give a nice cedar scent, as well as, keep the moths away.
I've had that happen; Didn't worry so much about WHY as to How To Make It Go Away. Wash 'em in hot water with a generous cup or so of white vinegar; give them a long soak. Love that white vinegar!
Extra rinse cycle .
could be the storage area (try leaving some dryer sheets with them).
