Lake house window

Previous owners of our lake house enclosed a porch but did not remove the window from the original exterior wall. On one side they just dry walled over it. But in the new room they just hung curtains over it. I’d like to do something unique and lakeish to it. I thought about covering it and putting shelves over it but don’t really want something protruding out from the wall. Any ideas???

Take the window out and put narrow shelves inside for small plants (herbs) or whatever you like. Add working or fixed shutters beside the opening. This reminds me of my brother's house. The previous owners sided over an outside door but left the door on the inside of the house. It always makes me laugh.

If you don't want a window, why not remove it, its not hard, then you could add new trim in the indentation and hang your shelves, put some LED strip lights and add some decorative colored glass objects, decoys, craft painted fish is popular in Oregon (its all about the salmon),,,,

Take a picture of the best view of the beach. Blow it up the size of the window (any copy place can do this). Cut and paste on the window. Make a cornice board and put lights inside the cornice. The light will shine down on the best view the beach has to offer!

Do you wish to disquise it or enhance it? Over the years I purchased large framed canvas paintings at the thrift store and primed and painted over that existing art. Crazy to think there are paintings below.

Have you thought about placing a small mural over the area?
