What is the best surface for pantry shelves--durable paint, plastic cut to fit, shelving paper, or any other suggestions.

    It really doesn't matter as long as you use good quality. Proper prep is crucial for paint to hold up. Plastic is washable in case of spills.

    I prefer the plastic cut to fit. It's so much easier to take out and clean, especially if your shelves are narrow and deep like mine. Plus it lays flat and doesn't slip around or bunch up.

    Bright white oil paint. Holds up to even the toughest clean up. Good luck.

    If your pantry shelves are made out of wood, I would use plastic cut to fit. Easy to keep clean.

    For me, a glossy paint worked best. Its easy to clean and touch up if necessary. Tried the shelving paper route, but that got dingy and curled up... plus was a pain to install : )

    Strips of vinyl flooring work very well too. You can cut it to the exact width and length required. It stays down without glue because it is heavier.

    peel and stick vinyl floor tiles work well, and can be cut easily to fit
