I got a very old screen door. It is made of 2x4's and put together with tongue and groove. How can I get it apart w/o tearing it up!
Fill with either wood filler or spackling. I like to use exterior spackling on interior painted wood projects. I find wood filler more difficult to work with, but the exterior spackling will fill and be as hard as the wood filler and much easier to use. Paint as needed. Good luck.
I would take the door frame out and have the area smooth like the walls around it.
Barn door track is usually above your present framing. You could use a utility knife to square off the areas and glue in another piece of wood. Wood putty the seams, sand and then prime paint and paint again with your finish coat.
