Looks like Cuban mahogany
This appears to be mahogany. A very valuable wood that is not being imported very much any more.
Yep looks like mahogany, and it was one of the most popular furniture woods in the 50s.
This appears to be mahogany. Not imported much anymore. Very beautiful piece. Its a hardwood. Much furniture going back into 1800s built with this. It was imported wood from rainforest. Even back in time very expensive, so it is often seen as a veneer.
This is most likely a mahogany veneer as solid mahogany is very, very heavy.
Oh wow! Thank you everyone for your quick responses and nice comments. It appears that there is some veneer on the front and sides. It is very, very heavy so could be that the rest of the hutch is made from mahogany. ?? Would anyone know what this unit would be worth should I want to sell it? Also, there is the dining table and chairs that go along with it.
My first thought was mahogany which is pretty expensive. I just wanted to comment on the wonderful wavy glass. It is a tough sell for dining room furniture as dining rooms are not really en vogue at the moment. If you decide to sell it separately suggest not only dining room but office or living room display which is what we used OURS for. It fit in a large nook in the wall in the office, making the nook look like it was MEANT for it. Good luck!!!
Great idea!! Thanks for that! I have some grand ideas now. 😄
