    Hi Julie,
I personally would paint them white to match the windows. It's my opinion that white would also brighten up the house. It's hard to tell what is planted in front of the windows, but I'd plant some small size evergreen type bushes to give some color all year. Hope that helps. Wishing you the best.

It looks like you live in a pretty wooded area. Here's my idea, with that in mind:
I would beef up your thin little posts by cladding them in natural wood (consult an expert) and then running the same across the top soffit where they seem to "support" the roof of it. Paint the garage door to match the house; I do not believe garage doors should ever be a focus point.
Strip and stain your front door to match the wood cladding of the posts. your door is the main focus of the front of your house. Also, I can't see what the bottom portion of the door looks like, but if it is plain, add an "x" of wood to it.
Build a planter box (and plant in it!) in the same wood to run the length under the four windows. This carries the natural wood all across most of the house and ties it all together, tying it also to the natural setting. Then plant something under the slider on the portion that is left.

I would paint the front door the same color as the house but in a lighter value. I think the front door should stand out so I wouldn't paint it the same color as the garage. The brick red works because even though it is the different color as the house it is the same value. When looking for colors it is just as important to know what you don't like as it is to know what you like. When you drive around the neighborhood look to see what your neighbors did. It helps to see what people did with similar homes.

I would paint the front door a nice light yellow. The garage, I would paint it the same color as the house, just a little lighter. The posts, I would either paint white or cap them in aluminum or azek so you don't have to keep painting them. I would also paint the lamp post white. Some nice evergreen shrubs would also dress up the house even in the winter.

I like the idea of white so they match the windows
