What is a simple low budget way to update hard dining chairs?

I have 6 wooden dining chairs, that are not comfortable and boring. They are in great shape and so is the table. I would like an idea to spruce them up.

    Chair cushions? Come in many styles and colors.

    Seat covers, put a pad underneath. Seen them made with drop cloths to keep cost down.

    Check the outside cushions. Right now they are on sale anywhere. Some with backs attached. Shopko has a nice assortment. Probably should purchase one extra just in case a need happens down the road.

  • Upholster the seat part

    Buy both cushions for the back and the bottom, use a print if your wall is a solid color, and solid if your walls are a print. If you buy a print, whatever is the least color in the wallpaper, make the cushions that color.
