Southern Traditions: Why Did My Grandmas Sweep Their Yards?
My question as I watched these grandparents was always, "Why are you sweeping your yards, and why is there no grass around your house?" We have grass around ours.
Mix a solution of half bleach/half water. Spray on the moss, let it soak in for about 15 minutes and scrub with a scrub brush. Rinse off.
I'm sure there are commercial moss removers. I would use a power washer to blast it away first and then treat the area.
Scrape up what you can then wash with bleach solution& scrub brush- might have to do it again in a week or so-- spores get in the cracks
Once you clean if off try a vinegar rinse and let it dry, it kills fungal spores, just don't get in on anything that you want to keep, like grass.
A power washer would clean it off. Also, spraying it with white vinegar or bleach would kill it, but any runoff would kill what ever is growing on the edges of the sidewalk.
thanks
thanks everybody
will try
Mix a solution of half bleach and half water. Use a sprayer to cover the area, scrub it, then use a hose to rinse it off. Be sure to follow all directions on the container and use your protective gear. This method should keep the moss from growing back for as long as a year.
