I'm guessing that if you have to ask strangers how to do this plumbing/ tiling, massive re-do on a tight budget that you are limited in experience as well as funds. I did not mean that badly, but it does indicate that you will need professional help, someone to come in and look at the job and give you an estimate. Get more than one in fact. There is no way anyone can tell what is going one in that knocked down wall without personally seeing it. Good luck!
Hi Melissa,
If you're going to tile the walls, you don't need to build up the knocked down wall, just add two more studs and cover them in green board. This will help with preventing mold from growing, and then just put tile on it. As for tiling over cinder block, I've attached video that shows you exactly how to do it! Hope this helps you and good luck!
A much less alternative to tile is metal roofing. There are some things you need to make sure you do in order to make it water tight; but WELL worth it with the savings you'll have.
We are going to do it around our shower, and paint some funky stuff on it so it doesn't look so *country*.
If it were me, I'd build the walls out of wood studs and face them with plastic panels from Home Depot or Lowe's. They have 4' X 8" sheets you can cut to fit.
Seal the corners with silicone and you should be good to go.
I'd paint the block walls with a good paint and you can primer the plastic side and paint it also.
If you are looking to make it pretty then you can cover the studs with concrete board and add tile to the sides and the floor.
You can frame out the knocked down wall with 2X4's and install cement board over it then tile. The video for installing tile over block from Amy is perfect.
