You can buy press on privacy film that should work.
Contact sticky backed plastic would do the Job! You could also use a Shower Curtain in this situation without problems.
If it’s going to be permanent, the frost craft spray you see a lot at Christmas to decorate.
There is a company called Artscape that makes wonderful window films. You can choose an opaque rice paper look, rain pattern or any number of special stained glass looks.
There are many other companies that make window film available at craft or home improvement stores and even through Walmart and eBay.
With the fantastic selection and easy to apply technique you'll find just the right design to enhance your window. By incorporating both sections of window (top and bottom) the style will flow and become a lovely accent.
Buy a glass etching kit. That will permanently "frost" the glass.
any craft store has etching compound you can use with a stencil. Easy-breezy.
I would use the window film, or there's a Rustoleum frosted spray paint that several people thought gave them great results.
