I would consider centering the TV directly under the firebox for symmetry, and find tall pairs of lanterns, candles, or wall sconces for each side if the budget allows.

Looking around Pinterest or Houzz might be another idea to find similar ideas to suit your aesthetic.

You might want to wall mount your tv so that you can decorate your mantel. Items of differing height texture and color with a similar theme work well.

I would paint the wall behind the tv a darker color. Move the tall candle holder next to the other one on the right. I would get rid of the stuff in the vase. Maybe put some twinkle lights in the glass vase (it looks clear). You could do the same for the one on the hearth. I would find something lighter for the other side of the hearth. What you have there seems to blend into the fireplace bricks. Center the tv on the mantel.

Also agree that the TV (whether wall mounted or sitting) should be centered and lined up with the firebox. Two vases such as you already have on the left sitting on each side of the TV with colorful flowers or foliage will keep the entire area balanced. You might be able to add a very shallow decorative box below the picture of the TV screen (if it won't interfere with your electronics).

A wall mount would be good... centered over the firebox... and for the security of the TV itself....
Personally... I would either paint or white wash the brick, or go over it with a gray, or white tile, a marble look or a patterned tile, like encaustic tile or use a marble one in herring bone or arabesque... You could put in a solid surface hearth (stone yards sell scrap pieces at reduced cost) to match the tile or colors you choose for the fireplace surround

I would center the TV, there isn't enough room to put up a mount and be able to get the TV onto the mount. The arrangement you have on the left side of the mantle looks like you have another on the side of the fireplace. Put that one on the mantle on the right side, you can't see it where it is and would balance the right side of the TV space. You need to switch to brighter elements by the fireplace, as what you have blend in too well with the fireplace bricks and tile. I hope this helps!

Putting a t.v. over the mantelpiece is making it the most important item in the room . . . and while in reality that might be true it is not good to have it be visually. So I would suggest putting it in the bookcase to the right if visibility is good there. Also I like to look slightly down at a t.v. A lot of time it is just a black screen where you could have a beautiful painting or mantel decoration in this space.
