If it's too acidy it sorta turns into a slush. Is it dry or wet? Some foods (citrus peels) don't do it any favors. Does it get hot? What is it in? Does it have holes so oxygen can get to it?

Roll the barrel a few times while it's cooking. Spray with water when needed. Use compost starter. Put screen on top of wheelbarrow. Shovel barrel contents onto screen. Put larger, uncompensated pieces back in barrel for next batch.
It won’t turn into “dirt” per say. It become a fertilizer to be added to your soil providing nutrients and nitrogen in depleted soil.
Well theres yohr answer. Anaerobic composting has to have worms to work. Otherwise you do aerobic composting. Open the lid and throw some coffee grounds in there to get the process going. You won't need worms
