Hi Lucy, If it's a reasonable size, you could dig it out. If it's too large, you may want to grind it out. To do this, rent a grinder from a local tool rental establishment and follow their instructions closely. Wishing you all the best.
You could make a “Fairies house” out of it. There are lots of examples on Pinterest
Cut it straight across and close to the ground. Add a half wine barrel planter to the top and fill it with your favorite flowers.
Or after cutting it as low to the ground as possible you could grind it the down so there is nothing to worry about.
